Tasks of Living With Others

Perhaps the biggest adjustment to college life has been getting used to living with others and sharing space.  To me, this seemed like a big issue at first but became routine quickly.  I live in East Halls with my roommate Naseem.  While we shared little in common initially, we have become friends throughout the year.  I am a person who likes to spread out, so at the start it was difficult to adjust to having such a small area to keep my things.  However, at this point in the year, when I go home I feel like i have almost too much space.  Also, at first I had to get used to sharing a bathroom with the other forty plus guys on my floor.  With patience, however, I have easily adjusted to this, and I enjoy life in the dorms more and more.
As far as tasks of living with others go, I have discovered that there are a variety of tasks required to be successful living with other people.  Infinite patience is required, as well as a sense of respect for what is someone else's.  With small living conditions, one must be careful to respect other people's personal space and give everybody what he or she deserves.  I have found that the respect required for this has transfered into other parts of my life, making it an overwhelmingly positive experience.
