Academic Life
Transitioning to Penn State has has required several academic adjustments. First, college life requires impeccable budgeting of time. With so much to do during one day, I have discovered that planning ahead of time which things are most important to accomplish is key to being successful academically.
Secondly, college academics are different from high school in the systematic way in which they are arranged. While the high school student is required to submit work constantly throughout the semester, the average college student has just a few exams. Consequently, studying every night in college takes personal resolve rather than requirement. I discovered quickly that one must space work out over time, rather than cram the night before for an exam worth a very large percentage of the final grade. This leads to lower stress and higher averages.
Lastly, I enjoy collegiate academics because they allow me to concentrate my learning into a field that I am interested in, rather than forcing various subjects. Due to this, I have enjoyed every minute of school at Penn State, and I look forward to learning in the years to come.
